After last night's performance of Chad Billingsley against my Mets, it's too bad etopps isn't offering his 2006 RRO rookie etopps card this week. Instead, they are offering 100 2008 Clayton Kershaw cards signed on Thursday, May 21st for $35 each. Each account can only get one of these so it's likely this will sell out, right?
Let's see what ebay has to say about this. Needless to say his 2006 true rookie cards are most sought after, have the highest asking prices and have the most bids. 2008 is not a pretty year for his autographed cards nor is the quantity of 100 for that year.
But when you factor in the appealing on-the-card signature rather than a sticker, the quality of the card, the encasement, the COA and the etopps following for the autographed cards, this card could sell over $100. Gallardo's auto has not done much as a pre-sell yet (as a pitcher comparison) and it's too bad this player was chosen over Billingsley who is hot right now.
Based on the performance of Kershaw, this card should easily double your money even if you don't sell it before receiving it from etopps because of the large LA market and the factors I listed above.
